Account Director

The Account Director has primary responsibility for a portfolio of accounts and the growing team charged with managing those accounts. As a proven business-oriented leader and team builder, the Account Director is capable of aligning with our most senior clients on strategic initiatives, while also providing a mentoring environment for a young, ambitious account group. The Account Director embraces the responsibility associated with producing brilliantly effective work, ensuring overall client satisfaction and driving business profitability. As a department leader, they will create a learning environment meant to instill these dynamics into their team. As part of the leadership team, the Account Director plays a critical role in ensuring business growth of the agency.

The Account Director will report to the VP of Account Services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Financial management of account revenue and profitability for the business unit
- Proactively develops and delivers organic growth opportunities for clients
- Provides/influences strategic direction for all clients
- Achieves positive results through interactive campaigns and programs
- Delivers metrics on the overall quality of the relationship and the product provided to our clients
- Oversees project plans and timelines for technical and creative teams.
- Interprets, develops and delegates projects specific to work flow processes for technical and creative teams.
- Ensures effective performance management: manages both results and behaviors by setting and communicating clear job expectations with all of staff. Provides clear, timely, meaningful feedback, including performance reviews on a bi-annually basis. Assists the employee in creating a development plan for the following year.
- Dynamically motivates and leads the account group and overall project teams
- Mentors and coaches team members
- Defines and implements best practices at the business unit level
- Contributes to overall development of the client services department
Desired Background/Skills
- A killer portfolio of work they have been associated with and a trail of successful subordinates they have mentored.
- Account Management experience in an Digital/Interactive Marketing discipline—agency background preferred
- Minimum 5 years of Senior Account Management experience with strong supervisory track record
- Bachelor's degree or higher in one of the following areas: business, marketing, communications, e-business engineering or computer science
- Experience working with national, complex clients
- Demonstrated understanding of Customer Relationship Management, Content Management, Analytics, Digital Marketing, eCommerce, and Internet Technologies
- Proven competencies in managing growing teams and newer client relationships
- Experience in formulating and driving long-term strategic account plans, strategies, and roadmaps
- Dynamic presentation skills
- Advanced negotiation, communication, writing, and organization skills
- Proven team motivation and team leadership skills
- Ability to work with a distributed team
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Ability to deal with others with tact and good judgment
- Willingness to travel, up to 25 percent.
