Background

Alarm.com is the technology platform behind a wide range of smart security systems for homes and businesses, covering video, access control, energy management, and connected devices. They reach customers through a network of trusted local service providers and work with hardware from hundreds of brands.

People come to the site to learn about products and solutions, check compatibility with hardware they already own, or find support through the dealer portal. Serving all of them from one site meant every page had to know exactly who it was talking to.

The Challenge

Alarm.com serves homeowners, businesses, and the professional installers who sell its platform, and each audience arrives with different questions and levels of expertise. The existing site had grown over years, making it hard for each audience to find what was meant for them.

Our Approach

We started with content—defining audience needs and planning entirely new content to fill the gaps. We then rebuilt the site from the ground up on Craft 5, a customizable CMS platform, with a modular component system that gives each audience its own path while keeping the experience unmistakably one brand.

Results

Launching in October, the new Alarm.com brings hundreds of pages into an audience-led structure, including new product detail pages, migrated blog and resource content, 30 reusable components, and a CMS that is easy to update without developer support.
